The body text on the page is the title of the magazine "NME" along with the title of the main article on the magazine. The writing on the magazine has cracks and sharp edgy lines to make it modern, edgy and stand out helping to represent the rock music genre. All the writing is in capital letters to make it bigger and bolder and help to attract the reader's attention. The header of the magazine is yellow which is the lightest colour on the page so it stands out the most. The NME logo is the biggest item on the page aside from the main image this is so that you can easily see what magazine it is. The logo is simple with only three colours and letters this makes it easy and recognizable. The main colours in the magazine, red, yellow and white, are quite harsh and edgy this is to reflect the kind of music that is portrayed in the magazine. The main picture on the page is Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters with a rather aggressive expression on his face; it is a close up picture to show his expression rather than a long shot because that would make it harder to distinguish him. The photo also reflects the kind of band he is in and his attitude. There are also smaller pictures all around the outside of the main image with captions underneath to explain why the pictures are in the magazine this makes you want to read on and find the full story inside.
Front page two - ROCKSOUND
The main feature on the front cover of ROCKSOUND magazine is a picture of The Gallows front man Frank Carter and The Automatic front man. The picture shows them looking very moody and kind of competitive showing the nature of that weeks issue. It also shows you a number of other ands that are in the issue in bold, reversed out text. The fact that t is reversed out makes it stand out to the viewer and makes it look kind of edgy and new reflecting the music. Also on the front page is a number of quotes from the issue that give you a preview about what is inside. They are to make you buy the magazine because you want to find out more about what is going on. Black, Red and yellow are the main font colours used on the front page and they help to make the magazine to look different ad appeal to the kind of people who listen to the music the is being written about in side e.i. rock, indie etc. The main title "ROCKSOUND" has cracks in the font to make it look sort of broken and rough the same technique is used in the Kerrang title. In the bottom corner of the page is the bar code and issue information along with the price.
Front Page three - Kerrang
It seems to me that the main target audience for Kerrang is 16+ teenagers to people in there late 20's who are interested in rock/punk/indie music. This is obvious because of the band listed at the bottom and sides of the magaizien and the central image that has been used. The central image is of the heavily tattooed Oli Sykes from Bring Me The Horizon. He is looking at the readers with a direct mode of adress which makes the picture quite dramatic. The block title looks as though it has been smashed and has the effect of a broken mirror which makes it edgy and exciting. it is clear that the magazine is trying to portray uniquness, roughness and edgyness to attract the reader. The colours used on the magazine are quite dark and this reprisents the stereotypical nature of the target audience. Again the main colours are red yellow and white as these clearly stand out and grab peoples attention.
